Yesterday we announced that Leanne Copley of Sona Pilates was our business woman of the month for May.
We are now announcing that our business man of the month for May is Dan Spencer. Dan has been running Moving Mountains for three years, and in his own words…
“Moving Mountains is an outdoor activity company. Established in 2016 our aim is to get children and adults exploring the outdoors and enjoying outdoor activities.
We have an activity centre and campsite on the edge of Bristol, and also have a range of mobile activities including our mobile archery range.
From school groups to kids birthday parties, stag weekends to corporate away days we welcome them all!”
Check out their Facebook page here, and if you’ve had an experience with them, leave them a recommendation!
I recently asked Dan a few questions about running his business, and here’s what he said.
What inspired you to start the business?
I had previous jobs working in schools and voluntary roles working outdoors with kids.
I was keen to work for myself and combining them all seemed the perfect solution.
What’s the most enjoyable part of running the business?
Seeing children trying new activities for the first time and watching them grow in confidence.
What’s been the hardest part of running the business?
Hardest part has been developing a customer base and getting customers out to our site.
Any plans to expand in the near future?
I’m keen to expand our activity offering, both on site and mobile.
Do you have any advice to someone looking to start a business?
Follow your dreams. Listen to constructive advice but dont listen to those who say it’ll never work!
And remember, it takes a lot of time and hard work to get your own business off the ground.
Finally, what’s your favourite thing about Bristol?
The stunning countryside that surrounds the city – whether it’s the cotswolds, the mendips or the Avon valley.
Bristol is surrounded by great places to get outdoors.
Thanks Dan for answering our questions, and congratulations on Moving Mountains’ success so far!
