**If you run a local business in Bristol and would like to feature on our new website, email us at email@example.com and find out how!**
The Bristol Hub is all about celebrating and promoting local business talent from all walks of life. This feaure is celebrating women in business across Bristol. Every week, we are going to interview one business woman who is succeeding in the city. We have lots of talented business women to choose from, so we’re looking forward to meeting some great business people.
This week, I interviewed Jo Richards. Jo is the co-founder of Bristol Utility Solutions & Co. The business has launched recently and they are on a mission to help people in the UK switch to pay cheaper utility bills. They have a personal goal for 2019 to help residents and business save £100,000 through switching providers.
Although the business has only recently launched, Jo has been in the industry for several years. They are partners with a FTSE 250 company who have been in the industry for 20 years as well as other credible brokers.
I asked Jo a few questions about running the busniess – here’s what she said in her own words…
How did you get into doing what you do?
I was introduced by a good friend to the first business, which I joined over 3 years ago, and then joined forces with team members to create a more rounded free service to offer people. We get paid a finders fee by providers if people decide to change once they have seen the savings on offer.
What do you enjoy the most about what you do?
Helping people to save money is really rewarding, it then releases money for people to spend on the nicer, fun things in life, like going out & holidays.
What do you enjoy the least about what you do?
Mmmm this is a tricky question, as I really enjoy all aspects, I think I’d have to say, when people misunderstand what I do is tough, or a lot of people won’t even chat to me as can be suspicious – this goes back to the old mindset of – if it sounds too good to be true it normally is, instead of – wow that’s amazing, what a great opportunity
What are your plans for 2019?
We are launching “the big switch campaign” aiming to help enough people save by switching their utilities to the target value of £100,000 by the end of the year.
What advice would you give to someone looking to go into the same profession?
Have a coffee & chat with me or one of the team, we’d love to share & help anyone who would be interested in joining us to help people save money.
What is your favourite thing about Bristol?
I absolutely love everything about Bristol, there’s so much too do, so many opportunities, so much to experience, it has been constantly voted one of the best cities to live & for people to launch start up businesses.
Thanks a lot Jo for taking the time to answer our questions. Give Bristol Utility Solutions a like on Facebook to find out more about what they do.
